Its been a month?!?!

So its been a month since my last post and I really have no idea where the month went.  Things have been busy since we got back from vacation and I have not made time to post on my blog.  February has been crazy in NOLA!  We had the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras within 2 weeks of each other!  The weather has been dreary, cold, grey and depressing.  The winter blues are in full force at our house.  My husband and I both are ready for Daylight Savings and some warmer weather!

I rented a booth at Clayton House Marketplace in Covington, LA to display some of my work.  It has been great!  We filled it back up this weekend with new projects and I totally forgot to take picture.  Epic fail on my part.  I do have some before and after pictures of a custom dresser I did last week.

This dresser is amazing.  They do not make them like this anymore.  Gorgeous details, functional and solid wood...perfect.  It was handed down to my client a long time ago and was in her son's room for many years.  It was in good shape but was showing it's age and usage.  There were pencil marks, dents, dings and "I HATE MOM" scratched into one of the sides.  I laughed when I saw it and wondered how old he was when he scratched that, or did a sibling sneak in and do it.  The dresser is now being handed down to the client's adult daughter so they wanted a facelift on the dresser.  Here are a few before and afters.

BEFORE:

As you can see, the dresser is in overall great shape but is showing its age.  Other than the pencil marks and such, the top and the body had areas that were discolored in some places and had some clear coat or paint peeling off.

AFTER:

I love it!  Its not a dramatic makeover but that's what I love.  The top was redone with a similar stain and the body was painted ivory and glazed to accentuate all the amazing detail.  The dresser was missing some of the original hardware so the client is buying new pieces.  I can't wait to see it all put together!

Remember to go check out my booth at Clayton House Marketplace!
