Charleston Food

And it's Thursday already!  This time last week we were flying to Charleston for our last minute extended weekend vacation.  Read about the tours we did and where we stayed here.

This post is all about the food.  Yes, an entire post for the food.  I would call Blittle and myself, amateur foodies.  My family did everything around food and I tried to absorb as much information from my grandparents and parents as I could about cooking.  I am not afraid to try new recipes at home and neither of us are picky eaters.  When we moved to New Orleans, we both started trying new foods and looking for places that offered different dishes.  I have eaten things that I NEVER thought I would.  Some things are delicious, others not so much but I tried them and that's what counts.

Falling For Charleston

Hi!  I hope everyone is having a great week!  Blittle and I are trying to get back into the swing of things after being gone for an extended weekend, mini vacation in Charleston.  I think I fell in love while I was there.

We have been talking about getting away for a while now.  Both of us have been super busy with work and have been feeling very overwhelmed.  A few weeks ago, I finally got fed up with talking about leaving and bought plane tickets.  I was ready to get away and it needed to happen ASAP.

Charleston, South Carolina isn't a place we had on our travel list, but it is a place that has come up in conversation quite a bit in the past few months.  We were told it is like a clean and safe New Orleans.  That the food is great and the scenery and homes are beautiful.  There is also good fishing and beaches there (this was supposed to be a non beach, non fishing vacation but we ended up doing both).

So when I was checking for flights, I just happened to check Charleston, along with Cancun, Key West, and a few other islands.  Blittle kept saying he wants to do something "America" and see more of our country before we go back to the Caribbean.  So that's what we did.

I found a great, super cute rental through VRBO.com on Market Street.  This is a great location to walk to everything!  You could get away with not renting a car if you plan on staying just in the downtown area.  Here are the pictures of our rental and the link to it's page that has more info about it.

White Bedroom Set & Some Updates

Hello y'all.  I hope everyone is having a great week!

This is my third attempt to write an update and post for this week.    I have been a little stressed and all over the place the past few weeks.  I think I am finally getting focused again.

Things have been quiet on the blog but they have not been in my life.  I told y'all about taking a day off to bring my parents to the airport and spend the rest of the day with my best friend and her family.   After that, the week got a little crazy and ugly.

On Thursday of that week, two of my nieces were burned in a cooking accident and were brought to Shriner's in Galveston for treatment.  We spent a lot of time at the hospital over the next week.  My BIL and SIL have 6 kids so we helped take care of the other 4 children along with BLittle's parents.   Our 7 year old nephew stayed the weekend with us and he had a blast.  He loved fishing, taking boat rides, and sleeping in his own bed.  :)  Thankfully, the girls were released late last week and only come back for bandage changes and check ups once a week.

DIY Dock Update

Happy Friday!

I realized the other day that I never posted updated pictures of the dock.  Remember, I surprised Blittle for our anniversary with the boat lift he wanted.  When I went to New Orleans, Blittle and a friend installed the boat lift.  How exciting...I didn't have to do any work!

There are only a few things left on the to do list.  We have the electricity and lights that need to be installed and a few detail things like rub rails and boat cleats.  The fish cleaning table needs a little work before it is put up but we do have one.  Also, I need to build a few more pieces of furniture for the seating area.  Seating and furniture projects will be done when I have a break in client work.

There are many new readers and followers to blog so I am going to remind every one what we started with.  A very small, sad and unsafe dock.

This is what the yard looked like when we moved in.  There was a large concrete walk way to the dock.  We tore it out and built a fence.

Painted Gray with Glazed Furniture

Hi all.  I hope every one is having a great week.

Over the weekend, I worked both Saturday and Sunday and I took Monday off.  My parents needed a ride to the airport for their big move to Germany, so I dropped them off then, spent the rest of the day with my best friend and her family.  They live about an hour from my house but only a few minutes from the airport.  We spent the afternoon out on their boat swimming and tubing.  I haven't been pulled on a tube in at least 10 years.  My friend and I were pulled on the tub and we laughed hysterically the entire time.  So much fun and a little frightening.

Pink & Gold Dipped End Table

This beautiful end table matches the pink & gold dipped dresser I shared last week.  The end table was in good condition but needed an update.  I can't wait to see this set in the finished nursery.

Here are the before pictures.
